    COUNCIL ABSENT: Christensen, Jensen.

    OTHERS PRESENT: Al Krueger, Greg Drees, Mardi Allen.

    BUDGET FYR 2006-2007: Mayor Mitchell opened the public hearing at 5:02 P.M. No comments written or verbal were received. Mayor Mitchell closed the hearing at 5:04 P.M. RESOLUTION NO. 16-06 APPROVING THE BUDGET FOR FYR 2006-2007. Introduced by Munsen. Seconded by Koppert. The roll was called and the vote was: AYES: Munsen, Koppert, Watters. NAYS: None.

    RURAL FIRE PROTECTION: Motion approving the extension of the Rural Fire Protection 28E Agreement through July 1, 2007, contingent on the approval by the City of Okoboji. Watters/Koppert. Ayes; three. Nays; none. Motion approving the liquor license renewal for Yesterdayıs. Koppert/Watters. Ayes; three. Nays; none.

    381 OKOBOJI GROVE ROAD: Council discussed a possible practice burn for the cottage at 381 Okoboji Grove Road. Koppert does not want a practice burn on the property; he does not want any trees damaged. It was the consensus of the Council to allow Roger Hayenga to remove the storage shed from the address 381 Okoboji Grove Road. Motion approving the demolition of the building at 381 Okoboji Grove Road, or allow a practice burn if no environmental damage is done. Watters/Munsen. Ayes; three. Nays; none.

    PERSONNEL COMMITTEE: The salary step plan was reviewed and discussed. The police officer designation seemed low compared to surrounding communities. All the other steps seemed to be in line. Motion was made to raise all hourly wages (steps) by 4% over last year, with the exception of police officers, which was increased to $17.99 for step 5. All increments in the plan are at 3.5%. Salaried employees were adjusted as follows: City Administrator $62,000, Deputy City Clerk $33,000, Chief of Police $48,000 and create a new position, that being, Assistant Chief of Police with an annual salary of $43,000. These changes will be affective July 1, 2006. Motion also included the raise of maximum sick leave from 60 days to 75 days and the City will absorb any health insurance increase. Watters/Koppert.
