WATER, SEWER, & GARBAGE BILLING

Quarterly rates are as follows:

Water
2500 gallons $85.00 + 6% WET tax
In excess of 2500 gallons – $6.30/1000 gallons of usage + 6% WET tax

Sewer
$15.00 + $1.35/1000 gallons of water usage

Sewer Fee
$6.00 + $.50/1000 gallons of water usage

Garbage
$36.00 (Residential) – $45.00 Dumpster (Commercial)

 

Annual rates are as follows:

10,000 gallons $340.00 + 6% WET tax
In excess of 10,000 gallons – $6.30/1000 gallons of usage + 6% WET tax

Sewer
$60.00 + $1.35/1000 gallons of water usage

Sewer Fee
$24.00 + $.50/1000 gallons of water usage

The City has second meters available for those who use large amounts of water on their yards.  The sewer charge is waived on the second meter.  For further information on a second meter, please contact City Hall.

 

Bills are sent out quarterly around the 1st of the next quarter or annually on July 1 and are to be paid by the 20th of the month in order to receive a discount.  If the account is not paid in full by the end of the month, the account is considered past due.  If water is disconnected for any reason a $25.00 reconnect fee along with a $25.00 administrative fee will be added to the account balance.

If you move from Arnolds Park or to a different residence within the City, please call City Hall and make the necessary arrangements.  If this is not done, all utilities will continue to be billed to you.

 

GARBAGE COLLECTION

Garbage is collected on Mondays and Fridays beginning Memorial Day – Monday only beginning Labor Day.  Garbage is collected on all holidays, except Christmas.  Garbage collection begins at 7:00 A.M. All automated trash containers must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of service.  The cart needs to be 3 – 5 feet away from any other obstacle, with the wheels away from the street.  Carts remain the property of Town & Country and are not to be removed from the property.

 

RECYCLING

Curbside recycling collection days are the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month.  The City will provide you with an automated recycling container upon request.  There are recycle bins located at 700 240th Ave. for cardboard, tin, plastic, and newspaper, if you should miss the curbside collection.  Residential recyclable curbside items include:

  1. Tin: food containers only.  Rinsed clean, discard lids, labels okay.
  2. Plastic: check the bottom for recycling code (numbers 1, 2, or 3).
  3. Cardboard: corrugated, pop cartons, cereal cartons, tissue boxes – all flattened.
  4. White & pastel paper: typing, computer, envelopes without windows or plastic removed, and other    non-shiny white or pastel paper.  Newspaper:  anything received in the newspaper is recyclable as well as all paper not considered white paper.  Paper back books & hardcover books with hardcover
  5. Shredded paper – bagged in a clear plastic bag.
  6. Plastic bags – bagged in a clear plastic bag.

The above items do not need to be separated.

Do not recycle the following items

  •   Glass, light bulbs, ceramics, porcelain, and baking glass.
  •   Waxed milk cartons, egg cartons, single use items, or Styrofoam.
  •   Bleach bottles, anti-freeze, oil containers, or other hazardous materials.
  •   Electronics, batteries, or bulbs.
  •   Rubber, metal, waste, or wood.

YARD WASTE & APPLIANCE/ELECTRONICS

Yard waste collection is on Tuesdays, weather permitting.  Waste must be generated from property where collected.  Place in City bags not exceeding 50 pounds.  Cut branches in 4’ lengths and bundle with a City bag attached.  Bags may be purchased at City Hall in Arnolds Park.  Large bags are 10 for $6.50.  The City will also pick up appliances & electronics.  You must purchase a tag for these items by contacting City Hall.  Dickinson County has a recycling facility located at 2260 220th Street (A34) in Milford where you can dispose of all of the above items yourself.  Please contact 712-338-2549 with any questions.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Before beginning any construction or moving in any structure, make sure to check with City Hall regarding any permits you may need.  Also, before digging, call 48 hours in advance to Iowa One Call – 811.

 

SEVERE WEATHER

Sirens located at City Hall, Dam Road, & Benit Drive will be sounded. Tests for these sirens are held every Wednesday at noon.
